Open the Body with Circling Hands Chi Gung
We are happy to host senior Energy Arts instructor Craig Barnes for our next workshop Sunday, June 21, 2015.
Building on the basic techniques covered in the last workshop, we will learn more circles and movements in the Circling Hands chi gung set. We will explore how to use tissue twisting and lengthening to open and unify the body, connecting the movement and chi of the arms and legs to each other. This process is extremely effective for unbinding blocked, stagnant, and weak chi, and increasing vitality and sense of well being.
This workshop will be followed by a four week series taught by Katie Keane that will continue to explore these techniques. Workshops and classes are open to students at all levels. While we are building on material from prior workshop/classes, there are no prerequisites for attending current offerings. If you have further questions, contact us at LongevityYoga@gmail.com.
Classes held at Cambridge Health Associates, 335 Broadway, Cambridge

New Class! Refresh and Restore Your Chi
We are excited to host senior Energy Arts instructor Craig Barnes to kick off our new series of classes! Craig has been studying Taoist arts since 1987, and is highly skilled at bringing students to a deep embodied understanding of the material he teaches. Don’t miss this opportunity!
In this session we will explore fundamental nei gung principles through standing qigong and circling hands. These exercises are accessible and extremely efficient for feeling and developing chi (energy) in the body, and for clearing blockages that impede its flow. They are an excellent adjunct practice to Longevity Yoga for developing clarity and stamina in yoga practice. The first class, taught by Craig, will cover essential principles using standing qigong and circling hands; subsequent classes, taught by Katie, will continue to explore these principles.
This session is open to students at all levels, and is especially relevant to human service workers looking for self-care tools to stay grounded and refreshed throughout the workday.
Tuesdays, April 28 – June 9, 2015 at Cambridge Health Associates, 335 Broadway, Cambridge
April 28: 9:30 – 12:00 with Craig Barnes
May 5 – June 9: 9:30 – 11:00 with Katie Keane
Tuition: $130 for whole the session including class with Craig, $45 for first class only with Craig

Soften the Body and Nurture Yourself
Join us for an afternoon of fun and relaxation
Sunday, January 19, 3:00 – 5:00
Winter is here! In the Traditional Chinese Medicine model, this is a time of year to move inward, slow down and take it easy. In contrast, many of us are revved up from the holiday season’s celebrations and stresses, and resolutions for the fresh start of the new year. Our bodies interpret this seasonal stress, whether positive or negative, in a similar fashion – we may not be sleeping deeply or long enough, we may feel some extra physical tension, exhaustion or emotional over-excitement. These are signals that the nervous system (and the body) is accelerating, at a time of year when it is wise to decelerate. In this workshop we will explore TLY principles and techniques to soothe the body and relax the mind, to synch with the natural rhythm of season and nurture ourselves. This workshop is appropriate for beginners as well as advanced practitioners.
Location: Cambridge Health Associates, 335 Broadway, Cambridge, MA
Cost: $25 pre-registered, $30 day of class

Free Your Joints with Longevity Yoga
Bring more freedom and relaxation to your whole body!
Did you know that the shoulders and hips are the main translators of both movement and stability from the torso to the limbs? Too much tension in the tendons and ligaments attached to these four joints can result in muscular tension in the neck, shoulders and back, repetitive strain and chronic discomfort in daily activities, including long periods of sitting. LY is an excellent method for reducing these types of pain and tension.
In this mixed-level class you will learn how to use simple Longevity Yoga postures and movements to loosen and relax the the shoulders and hips – in Longevity Yoga terms, the “four points” – and bring about full body relief and relaxation. This class is appropriate for beginners as well as intermediate and advanced practitioners.
